The House Crowd makes the grade

The House Crowd makes the grade once again

Pioneering property crowd funder shortlisted for two categories in NW Entrepreneur awards

Following a spate of award nominations this year, The House Crowd’s (www., run of good luck looks set to continue after it was announced as a contender at this year’s North West Entrepreneur Awards.

On this occasion, the world’s first crowd funded property investment vehicle – and Managing Director, Frazer Fearnhead – have caught the attention of judges for not one, but two categories – Most Entrepreneurial Company of the Year and Property Entrepreneur of the Year.

Property investment expert Frazer spotted an opportunity to democratise the property market through crowd funding and set up The House Crowd in 2012; revolutionising how would-be investors, particularly those with smaller budgets, invest.

His previous business success includes The Armchair Property Investor, a business set up to help amateur property investors. In three years, it sold more than £40m worth of investment property and was bought by Braemer Group Plc in 2007 for £2.25m.

Commenting on the latest in a string of award nominations, Frazer said: “As a start-up with big ambitions, we were understandably thrilled by the national and international recognition the company received earlier this summer however, being recognised on home soil, in our own region, is always that bit more special.

“The House Crowd is part of a whole internet revolution that is giving power back to the people and creating a global community that can interact with each other, cut out big institutions and join forces for the common good.

“On a regional level, we are helping some of Greater Manchester’s ‘forgotten’ communities to re-establish themselves. Breathing new life into old properties can have a dramatic effect on local communities as a whole, bringing in new people and ideas, and helping to create a new sense of pride in an area.

“The House Crowd has succeeded in injecting people power in to the once ‘elitist’ UK property market. A recent survey of our investors showed that 67% felt cut off from property until a service like ours came along – we have brought property to the masses.”

The winner will be revealed at the awards ceremony, held on 16 October in Knutsford.
